DANCE CLASS
A joyous dance class that invites you to dance, laugh and live with Artist Raúl Márquez Gaitán!
Back by popular demand, Solo Chicken Productions is thrilled to announce that artist Raúl Márquez Gaitán will be leading another Contemporary Dance Class this spring.
The class, open to all ages and levels of experience, invites participants to explore new ways of moving the body through space, improvising, and embracing the fun and joy of dance. Over the eight weeks Raúl will guide participants through warm-ups, technical exercises and creating dance compositions with the final class being an open work-in-progress for friends and family.
‘CONTEMPORARY DANCE CLASS INFORMATION
Instructor: Raúl Márquez Gaitán
Age Range/Experience: All ages & levels of experience welcome!
Goal: To create space for everyone to experience the joy and fun of dance.
Class size: 20-25 people
Location: Theatre New Brunswick (Open Space Theatre)
Dates: Sunday April 21 – Sunday June 16. (No class on Mother’s Day May 12)
Time: 10AM-12PM
Cost: Pay What You Wish (The suggested cost of the class is $80 but Solo Chicken endeavours to keep our programming as accessible as possible, so please choose a price that works for you.)
ACCESS INFORMATION
Solo Chicken Productions is committed to ensuring our performances and programming are as accessible as possible, which includes clarity about the level of access. The Contemporary Dance Class with Raúl Márquez Gaitán offers the following access:
Assistant facilitators and volunteers who can offer additional support and coaching.
Comprehensive in-take form.
Sensory accommodations welcome. (We have tools on-hand such as fidgets, headphones, weighted balls, and a vest.)
Space: The space is accessible for participants with limited mobility/mobility aides/wheelchairs. (The front door is not automatic. There is a very small ramp.)
Washrooms: There are three gender-neutral washrooms and one wheelchair accessible washroom.

Meet the instructor
RAÚL MÁRQUEZ GAITÁN (he/him)
RAÚL MÁRQUEZ GAITÁN is a theatre artist, contemporary dancer and educator born in Seville, Spain. Raúl studied theatre at School of Dramatic Arts in Seville, contemporary dance at Andalusian Dance Centre and has a Major in dance from SEAD (Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance).
He has performed as an actor and dancer in numerous companies and projects along Europe (Spain, Austria, Wales, UK...). Raúl has over 12 years of experience working as a contemporary dance teacher in Danza Mobile, an art centre for people with intellectual disabilities in Seville.
He strongly believes in the power of art to improve the life of everybody and the power of chocolate ice cream to turn over a bad day.
Raúl, through the generous support of ArtsNB is currently artist in residence at Solo Chicken, which enables us to share his gifts with our company and community.
