Level 2 Improv

Level up your improv skills with this focused intermediate course. Develop strong storytelling skills, create unique characters and scenes, and push your limits by exploring more complex of improv techniques! This class culminates in a public performance at the Charlotte Street Arts Centre.

Level 2 is suitable for anyone who has taken our Level 1 class or has similar improv experience. Please email jeanmichel@solochickenproductions.com for further details.

Instructors: Jean-Michel Cliche

Goals: Explore more complex performance techniques, develop strong “group mind” skill, and confidently perform advanced short-form games.

Class size: 14 max.

ACCESS & ADAPTATIONS

Solo Chicken is committed to doing all we can to make our programming as accessible as possible, which includes being clear about the space and any additional supports we offer. Level 2 Improv access information includes:

  • The space is accessible for students with limited mobility/mobility aides. To access the space, participants will enter the building on the WEST side (green awning), take a short elevator ride from the lobby to the first floor. From there, it is a short trip through the Arts Centre to the studio, including one ramp and no stairs.

  • There is a single gender-neutral and wheelchair accessible bathroom on the second floor, reachable via an elevator. The gendered bathrooms on the first floor are also wheelchair accessible.

  • Accessible parking and a curb cut directly in front of the lobby entrance.

  • Instructors are trained on inclusive and adaptable practices)

  • Sensory accommodations (fidgets, headphones, weighted sensory tools)

  • Memory aides available (handouts)

REGISTRATION

Solo Chicken Productions endeavours to make training available to anyone and everyone looking to learn, play and create! This class is offered through a “Pay-What-You-Can” format. You will find a suggested price listed ($215), but you are encouraged to pay the amount you feel you best fits you! That might be $40 less than the suggest price… Or $20 more! Please consider that your tuition goes towards running the program itself, paying for instructor fees and space rentals, as well as supporting our projects!

  • Pay-As-You-Go

  • Supplementing your tuition with an energy exchange (ex: working the door for a Solo Chicken event!)

Meet the instructors

Jean-Michel Cliche (he/him)


JEAN-MICHEL CLICHE is a theatre artist, improviser and educator of Lebanese and French-settler descent. He has trained with Fight Directors Canada and is now New Brunswick’s most active Fight Director and Violence Designer. As an actor, he has had the great privilege of performing in major cities across the country as well as communities of all sizes throughout the Maritimes. He has over 15 years of improv experience, including coaching the competitive team at Ecole Sainte-Anne, founding the Hot Garbage Players, and now hosting improv classes through Solo Chicken Productions. As an educator, Jean-Michel has taught drama with the University of New Brunswick and Theatre New Brunswick. He is also the Associate Artistic Director of Solo Chicken Productions!Jean-Michel loves all things games, particularly the pen and paper roleplaying variety!
