ABOUT MUSICAL THEATRE DANCE
Calling all musical theatre fans! This beginner-friendly class is for anyone looking to learn the basics of musical theatre dance! Students will be introduced to basic theatre jazz technique and put their skills to practice by learning a new piece of choreography each week. Musical Theatre Dance will be taught using adaptive movement practices and is open to complete newbies and folks looking to refresh their skills!
Dates: Tuesdays 7:00 - 9:00 PM, January 7 - February 25 2025
Instructor: Sydney Hallett
Location: The Charlotte Street Arts Centre, 732 Charlotte St, Fredericton, NB E3B 1M5. This space is equipped with an elevator and is wheelchair accessible.

There is a single gender-neutral and wheelchair accessible washroom a few meters from the classroom.
The space is accessible for students with limited mobility/mobility aides (elevator a few meters from classroom and easy access from parking lot).
Sensory accommodations (fidgets, headphones, weighted sensory tools) available.
Instructors are trained on inclusive and adaptable movement practices.
Assistant available for one-on-one support .

REGISTRATION
Solo Chicken Productions endeavours to make training available to anyone and everyone looking to learn, play and create! This class is offered through a “Pay-What-You-Can” format. You will find a suggested price listed ($215+HST), but you are encouraged to pay the amount you feel you best fits you! That might a bit less or a bit more! Your tuition goes towards running our programs and paying our instructors the fees they deserve!
Alternative Payment: Don’t have a credit card or interested in other ways to pay? If you would like to make an alternative form of payment, contact jeanmichel@solochickenproductions.com. Alternative forms of payment could include:
Paying by cash, cheque or e-transfer
Pay-as-you-go
Supplementing your tuition with an energy exchange (ex: working the door for a Solo Chicken event!)
Cancellation Policy: Solo Chicken reserves the right to cancel a course up to 2 weeks before it begins with a FULL refund being issued to all participants. Participants who drop out of the course at least 2 weeks before it begins will receive a FULL refund. After that, participants may request a 50% refund any time before the course’s second class.
Meet the instructor
Sydney Hallett (she/her)
Sydney Hallett is a dancer/actor/choreographer based in Fredericton, New Brunswick. She has a BA in Fine Arts and English (Drama) from St. Thomas University and has been training in physical theatre with Solo Chicken Productions since 2017. She works with various local companies as a dance/theatre-maker and educator and creates and produces her own dance works. She believes in the power of accessibility in arts as a tool to create more dynamic, thoughtful, interesting artistic spaces, processes, and performances. As an actor, she has performed with Solo Chicken Productions, Bard in the Barracks, NotaBle Acts, Hyperloop Theatre, and Theatre St. Thomas. She has choreographed for St. Thomas University’s Musical Theatre Program, Theatre New Brunswick’s Theatre School, and had work featured in Connection Dance Works’ Perspective, Kinetic Studio’s Open Studio Series, and Carte Blanche Acadie. As a human, she enjoys spending time with friends on a sunny patio, going on adventures, and making delicious coffee.
