A fun and physical introduction to unarmed stage combat with Jean-Michel Cliche
Join Solo Chicken this summer for a four-week introduction to unarmed stage combat led by Fight Director Jean-Michel Cliche! Dive into the exciting world of theatrical violence and learn basic unarmed combat techniques that are both safe and stylish before stringing them into thrilling choreography! Then, bring your choreo to life through scene work to create fully realized theatrical fight scenes!
This class is perfect for actors looking to add a new skill to their toolbox, artists interested in movement, or folks looking for a unique summer activity alike!
STAGE COMBAT CLASS INFORMATION

Age Range/Experience: All ages & all levels of experience welcomed!
Goal: To learn the basics of stage combat, move our bodies and have fun!
Class size: 16 Max.
Location: Odell Park Lodge, 397 Rookwood Ave, Fredericton, NB E3B 2M6
Dates: July 16, 23, 30 and August 6 2024
Time: 6:30 - 8:30 PM
Cost: Pay What You Wish (The suggested cost of the class is $115 but Solo Chicken endeavours to keep our programming as accessible as possible, so please choose a price that works for you.)
ACCESS INFORMATION
Solo Chicken Productions is committed to ensuring our performances and programming are as accessible as possible, which includes clarity about the level of access. The Stage Combat Class will offers the following access:
Assistant facilitator who can offer additional support and coaching.
Comprehensive in-take form.
Sensory accommodations welcome. (We have tools on-hand such as fidgets, headphones, weighted balls, and a vest.)
Memory aids in the form of hand-outs/digital files will be provided for terminology and choreography.
Space: The space is accessible for participants with limited mobility/mobility aides/wheelchairs. (There is a ramp into the space)
Washrooms: There is a single gender neutral/wheelchair accessible washroom.
REGISTRATION
Pay-What-You-Wish
Solo Chicken Productions endeavours to make training available to anyone and everyone looking to learn, play and create! This class is offered through a “Pay-What-You-Wish” format. You will find a suggested price listed ($115), but you are encouraged to pay the amount you feel you best fits you! That might be $40 less than the suggest price… Or $10 more! Please consider that your tuition goes towards running the program itself, paying for instructor fees and space rentals, as well as supporting our projects!

Pay-As-You-Go

Meet the instructor
Jean-Michel Cliche (he/him)
JEAN-MICHEL CLICHE is a theatre artist, improviser and educator of Lebanese and French-settler descent. He has trained with Fight Directors Canada and is now New Brunswick’s most active Fight Director and Violence Designer. As an actor, he has had the great privilege of performing in major cities across the country as well as communities of all sizes throughout the Maritimes. He has over 15 years of improv experience, including coaching the competitive team at Ecole Sainte-Anne, founding the Hot Garbage Players, and now hosting improv classes through Solo Chicken Productions. As an educator, Jean-Michel has taught drama with the University of New Brunswick and Theatre New Brunswick. He is also the Associate Artistic Director of Solo Chicken Productions! Jean-Michel loves all things games, particularly the pen and paper roleplaying variety!
