BIG GAY CABARET - CALL FOR ARTISTS

It’s back, and bigger and gayer than ever!

This year, Solo Chicken Productions and the Charlotte Street Arts Centre hosted the Big Gay Cabaret, an evening of queer joy and resistance in order to raise funds to support 2SLGBTQIA+ rights in New Brunswick. Because of its popularity and the continued need to fight for queer rights, we have decided to make the Big Gay Cabaret an annual event!

We are seeking applications from 2SLGBTQIA+ artists to perform in next year’s Cabaret! Performances of any kind are welcome, including theatre, dance, drag, comedy, poetry, music, and more! This year’s Cabaret theme is “REBEL.” Applicants are encouraged to incorporate themes of resistance, queer rage and unabashed self-expression into their proposed performances!

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Deadline to Apply: November 29 2024
Cabaret Date: February 15 2025
Volunteer: All of the funds raised at the Big Gay Cabaret will be donated to an organization that supports 2SLGBTQIA+ rights. Please note that all performers will be volunteering their time to participate in the cabaret!
Selection: Based on the applicants received, artists will be selected by the Big Gay Cabaret Organizing Committee, composed of local 2SLGBTQIA+ artists!
Age Restriction: This is an event for adults. Artists must be 19 years or older.
Location: The Big Gay Cabaret will take place in Fredericton, New Brunswick. While we are happy to receive applications from artists outside of Fredericton, artist from out of town will be in charge of their own travel and lodging if they are selected and wish to participate!
Accessibility: We do our best to create accessible spaces for our performers and audience members. The performance venue is accessible to those who use mobility aids, such as wheel chairs and walkers. If you have any questions concerning the accessibly of the performance, please reach out!
